Working together for Our Community
Hi, my name is John George and I am running for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) for Single Member District (SMD) 2A03 which includes the DC neighborhoods of Foggy Bottom and the West End. Encouraged by my neighbors to run for this position, I am looking forward to representing the entire community.
I am a home-owner on 26th Street NW in Foggy Bottom for the past 30 years along with my husband, Peter; and son, Isaac; (many of you might also remember our dog, Titan, who recently passed away). I retired two years ago after a 40 year career at an international consulting firm, CGI, focusing on the U.S. Health Industry. My consistency and collaborative nature allows me to effectively navigate difficult issues. Since 2020, I have been the President of the Foggy Bottom Association (FBA) which has given me great perspective on our neighborhood as I led the organization and the community into the future. In 2025, I helped co-found the Foggy Bottom West End Main Street to help our small businesses thrive.
I am committed to our Foggy Bottom/West End neighborhoods and I understand the immediate quality of life issues for 2A03 residents through countless conversations with neighbors. I have also represented these issues at Foggy Bottom Association meetings, ANC meetings, GWU Forums, and by testifying in front of the DC City Council.
I am actively involved throughout the community service as a hospital volunteer, a Parish Life member at Holy Trinity, and you will see me regularly lead FBA Community Meetings, participate in green space clean-ups, FBA-GWU Spring Clean-outs (AKA - Dumpster Day); and the annual document shred event. I support the arts. I am also an avid runner, enjoy Orange Theory workouts, and just walk around our beautiful neighborhood.
I am consistent, collaborative, and community minded.
I am ready to be your voice on the DC's ANC.
